Nano Banana 2.1 vs GPT Image 2.5

Choose by the image task you need to finish. This guide explains a reproducible comparison; it does not claim that we have tested or connected both models.

Match the specific endpoints, not just the names

fal lists Nano Banana 2.1 and GPT Image 2.5, with GPT Image 2.5 endpoints separated by workflow and variant. Its Flare text-to-image example uses openai/gpt-image-2.5/flare/text-to-image. Record the actual endpoint used rather than treating every GPT Image variant as interchangeable.

This website continues to use fal for model services. A comparison article does not enable a new model in the generator. Check the live model list and connection state before assuming either named model is available here.

Build a three-task comparison pack

Task one is a product photo: one matte blue bottle on pale stone, side light and no added text. Task two is a poster with the exact headline “WEEKEND MARKET”, a large clear text area and no other lettering. Task three edits an authorised reference image by changing only the background.

For each task, save the same prompt and references for both endpoints. Select equivalent size and shape where possible; note unmatched options rather than hiding them. If a provider offers a seed, keep the recorded seed but do not expect a seed value to mean the same thing across different models.

Score the file against the brief

Review product geometry, spelling, spacing, edge quality and any unwanted additions. For the reference edit, compare the subject before and after. A useful review sheet has one row for each constraint, with pass, fail or manual correction required; it does not need a made-up overall quality score.

Keep previews at the same display size and inspect each downloaded original. Repeating the test can reveal variable outcomes, but set a spend limit before running more samples. We have not measured a winning model for these tasks.

Include edits, format and delivery in the cost

Record the current quote from the endpoint, the selected quality settings, output count and subsequent requests. Count how many images can actually be used after review. Provider billing and this site’s credits are separate, so a public API price cannot be copied directly into a subscription estimate.

If you need a transparent asset, inspect the downloaded file for an alpha channel and test it over a coloured background. A checkerboard painted into an image is not transparency. Confirm that the chosen endpoint exposes the required format before paying for the task.

Make the choice for a repeatable workload

For catalog work, favour the tested workflow that preserves the product and needs fewer corrections. For posters, base the decision on exact text and layout. For reference editing, keep the model that meets the preservation list without rebuilding the subject. These are decision rules, not claims of model superiority.

Save the accepted prompt, settings, endpoint, date and result. Repeat the comparison when your workload or provider options change. Until both named endpoints have produced actual outputs, describe the result as a test plan, not a benchmark.

Questions before you start

Which model renders text better?

We do not have a controlled result for your text. Use the same headline and layout, then inspect every character and the final exported file.

Does this site provide GPT Image 2.5 generation?

This comparison does not add a GPT endpoint. Availability is determined by the generator’s live model list and connected fal configuration.

Can I compare their prices using one fixed number?

No. Endpoint, quality, output settings and later corrections affect the cost. Record current quotes for the same task and distinguish provider charges from site credits.
